Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Opposition parties to face him instead of calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as several parties demanded the PM’s presence in the Upper House.
“The brutal attack in Pahalgam by Pakistani terrorists was responded to sternly and decisively by India through Operation Sindoor. I am also responding to where is PM Modi (talking about opposition sloganeering). Face me, why do you want to call PM, you would be in more trouble if he comes, but they don’t understand,” Shah said.
Leaders of opposition parties demanded PM Modi to be present in the Rajya Sabha and later staged a walkout while Shah was addressing the House on Operation Sindoor and the recent Operation Mahadev in Jammu and Kashmir.

The home minister’s speech was interrupted by opposition parties. Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said, “I am standing to demand that PM Modi must address Rajya Sabha- which is the demand of all of Opposition. Questions that we raised were directly addressed to him as well.”
Kharge said PM Modi’s absence from the discussions was disrespectful to the Rajya Sabha. Shah retorted by saying that on several occasions, the Congress have not allowed Kharge to speak.
“The opposition’s demands are not fair. It was decided that anyone from the government can respond to the questions,” Shah added. As the opposition leaders walked out of the House, Shah said they cannot listen to the debate, as for so many years, they did not respond to terrorism in order to protect their vote bank.
Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha that Operation Mahadev led to the elimination of three terrorists. “Together, Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev form the sternest response to terrorism seen anywhere in the world,” he said.
The debate on Operation Sindoor began in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, while the Lok Sabha took up the discussion on Monday. The operation was launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
