A shocking incident took place after a debate show on a private channel in Noida. Maulana Sajid Rashid, a cleric, was slapped by Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders immediately after stepping out of the studio. The video of the incident is now going viral on social media.
The SP leaders involved have been identified as Gautam Nagar Student Union President Mohit Nagar, State Secretary of Advocate Union Shyam Singh Bhati and State Secretary of Student Union Prashant Bhati. What Triggered The Slap?
During the debate, Maulana Rashid reportedly made indecent and misogynistic remarks about Dimple Yadav. He criticised her attire during a recent visit to a mosque near the Parliament. He compared her to another SP MP, Iqra Hasan, who had covered her head.
Rashid said Dimple Yadav, who was wearing a sari, had “not abided by Islamic beliefs while sitting in the mosque.” He also questioned whether SP chief Akhilesh Yadav would file an FIR against the person who took her picture.

The cleric went further, saying, “A mosque is not a Parliament. An actress who works in movies half-naked comes fully covered to the Parliament. Then, should the dignity of a mosque be maintained?”
Leaders Demand Apology
According to the SP leaders, they asked Maulana Rashid several times to apologise for his comments. They said Dimple Yadav lives a simple life and such remarks were unacceptable. When Rashid refused to apologise, tempers flared, leading to him being slapped.
The leaders also tore case papers related to Dimple Yadav, which Rashid was holding at the time of the incident.
Rashid Stands by His Remarks
Maulana Sajid Rashid has stood by his controversial statements. He said, “I will apologise if Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav apologise first. She did not abide by Islamic beliefs while sitting in the mosque.”
Party High Command Silent
The top leadership of the Samajwadi Party has not yet commented on the incident. The video has been a topic of discussion on the internet. Some supported the SP leaders for defending Dimple Yadav, while others criticised the use of physical violence.
