Sarah Michelle Gellar did not have any advice for the cast of the new I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot.
For the unversed, the 48-year-old American actress, who played Helen Shivers in I Know What You Did Last Summer, has said in several interviews that she won’t play the character again because she’s dead. However, it did not stop her from being around the set.
While having the conversation with PEOPLE magazine, Gellar, who is married to franchise mainstay Freddie Prinze Jr. and is friends with director Jennifer Kaytin, said, “I mean, I’m involved in the sense of, like, I feel like part of it. But I’m dead.”
The Scooby-Doo star went on to note that she takes “inspiration from” the new cast members, quipping, “The way they bond and the way they support each other … I came away with so many new, really good friends. I didn’t expect it.”
“Those ladies know what they’re doing. They do not need my help,” she noted.
Notably, as per the synopsis of the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, the plot is eerily similar to the original film and the only change occurs in the friend group, who covers up a deadly car crash and turns to Southport Massacre of 1997 survivors Ray (Prinze) and Julie (Love Hewitt) with a cry for help.
It is pertinent to mention that I Know What You Did Last Summer will be released in theatres July 18, 2025.
